XR archive | Archiving portal

With the growing number of media contents, museum archiving has become increasingly complex in recent years. Flexibility, user-friendliness and the use of extended reality elements were therefore the central pillars in the development of the XR Archive.

With XR Archive, we integrate archiving seamlessly into exhibition planning. This saves time and reduces errors throughout the entire process.

NEED immersive reality wins IÖB-Challenge and realizes project at Schloss Trautenfels. The Universalmuseum Joanneum, Schloss Trautenfels department, is setting new standards in the digital archiving of exhibitions. Together with NEED immersive reality, an innovative concept for the long-term digital preservation of exhibitions has been implemented. With the increasing complexity of museum presentations - through interactive media, creative spatial concepts and multimedia content - traditional forms of archiving are reaching their limits. Catalogs can hardly preserve atmospheric, digital and curatorial contexts. The search was therefore on for a Digital Interactive Exhibition Archive (DIA) that makes it possible to experience analog and hybrid exhibitions digitally as a curated overall experience - including spatial atmosphere, exhibits, media and narrative strands. The aim was to create a system that makes exhibitions immersive, barrier-free and accessible regardless of location. The solution provides a sustainable basis for research, education and future exhibition concepts - and makes content available to visitors in the long term. The project serves as an example of how museums can increase their attractiveness and tap into new target groups through digital innovation.
