Styria VR | Infrastructure in virtual reality

Mapping large territories in VR with a high level of detail is still considered the supreme discipline in the world of virtual reality. Although Google Earth data can be processed relatively quickly and there are other approaches, this data often proves to be unsuitable for VR, as the level of detail is not sufficient for design checks and additional modeling.

Virtual reality in road construction | Province of Styria

Mapping large territories in VR with a high level of detail is still considered the supreme discipline in the world of virtual reality. Although Google Earth data can be processed relatively quickly and other approaches exist, this data often proves to be unsuitable for VR, as the level of detail is not sufficient for design checks and additional modeling. The integration of additional objects such as roads, building details, trees and the like rarely leads to satisfactory results without complex procedures. In our case, road data is modeled in the highest 3D quality and combined with heat maps and survey data to ensure adequate communication with the public for projects of this scale. Our prototype uses dynamic scaling to provide unprecedented insight into future infrastructure projects. Users can not only explore detailed models of road layouts and traffic structures, but also experience their real-time impact on the surrounding environment.
